Trends with Benefits: Destined for Jail

Try and solve this week’s Trends with Benefits, the weekly brainteaser from your friends at TriplePoint! TWB appears every week in our news round-up, Points of Interest, and offers terrific prizes to readers who can puzzle their way through the challenge du jour. First crack at the prizes go to Points of Interest subscribers when the newsletter goes out on Fridays, but we’ll be sharing each week’s challenge here on our website, as well.

This week’s challenge is for Cell Bound, the new iOS action-puzzler from TriplePoint client, Hothead Games! Read on and see if you can work this one out!

Destined for Jail
Unleash the Bounds of Cell!

I’ve got to say, the new iOS game from TriplePoint Client Hothead Games sounds kind of depressing. I mean, Cell Bound? You play as a guy who’s headed to jail, to stay there indefinitely? There’s not much to look forward to, if you’re —

Oh, wait. It’s about microscopic cells? Like, the tiny organisms? And you “bind” them together in colorful combos? Oh! Wow, okay, that sounds like much more fun. Yes, please, I would like to play that! Gee, if I got that game completely wrong based on its homonym-laden title, who knows what other games I’ve misunderstood up until now?

For this week’s Trends with Benefits, see if you can identify these following game titles, based entirely on my blatant misunderstanding of their premises. Get them all, and you’ll have a chance to get a free copy of Hothead Games’ Cell Bound on iOS, a game all about jail! Er, I mean, microorganisms!

Which game titles could conceivably fit these descriptions?

  • A seismic activity simulator
  • A dancing game where you have to get under a bar
  • A game in which you only get to play up until middle age and then die
  • A quest to help an angel get his glowing adornment
  • An electrical engineering simulator about an apparatus for reducing the voltage of alternating current
  • An RPG about a Shakespearean shipwreck

Man, these games sound awful. How could they possibly be any good?
